HERTZ GIRONA AIRPORT

Girona Airport, or Girona-Costa Brava Airport to give it its full title, is in the east of Spain near the Mediterranean Coast and about 40 miles from the border with France. The airport is about 7 miles from the city of Girona and is conveniently located on the Autopista AP-7 motorway which provides easy access to locations along the southern coast of Spain. Girona is used as an alternative airport for Barcelona only an hour away on the AP-7 motorway which also provides access to the many tourist resorts along the Costa Brava. The airport handles roughly 5 million passengers each year and owes much of its popularity in recent years to its use by Ryannair as an international hub providing flights to and from locations throughout Europe. Well over 1 million passengers fly to Girona Airport from the UK each year, departing from airports including Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow-Prestwick, Liverpool, Newcastle upon Tyne and London's Gatwick, Luton and Stansted.

The airport has been upgraded and modernised over the last few years to provide a first-class international service and the passenger terminal hosts a full range of travellers' facilities. Girona Airport's main terminal is on two floors with Arrivals and Check-in on the ground floor and Departures on the first floor. There are restaurants and bars and a range of shops and boutiques as well as cashpoints, information centres and facilities for disabled passengers
